Course Policies


Class Pre-registration - Pre-registration is required for all scheduled classes.

Reservations - Class reservations can only be guaranteed by paying for the class in full in advance.  You must reserve your spot with a valid credit card or by mailing us a check.  Personal checks must be received at least 10 business days before the class date.  PayPal payments may be made in lieu of check or credit card to This email address is being protected from spambots. If We Cancel - Cancellations are very rare but, if we choose to cancel or reschedule the class you will have the option of either repayment of your full deposit or credit/reschedule in a future class.

If You Cancel - You must inform the instructor at least 48 hours in advance of the start of the class if you cannot attend or you will be considered a no-show.  All cancellations before the 48 hours prior to class start time will recieve a full credit towards a future class.  We have fixed costs for each class that cannot be recovered if you do not show, so please make every effort to attend the class you are scheduled for.

Refunds - With the exception of us cancelling a scheduled class, no refunds will be granted for shooting classes.  We will provide a credit towards a future course unless you are a no-show (see If You Cancel).

Class Requirements - Wisconsin and Federal law has specific requirements as to who can own and possess a firearm.  You must be legally able under Wisconsin and Federal law to own or possess a firearm to participate in our classes.

Liability Release - All participants will be required to sign a Liability Release / Hold Harmless Agreement prior to participation in any class.  The facilities where we shoot may also require a Liability Release to be signed.

Safety - All participants are expected to act in a safe and responsible manner and must follow the instructions of the Instructor and/or Range Safety Officer at all times.  Students will be required to wear proper eye and ear protection at all times on the range.  Instructors and Range Safety Officers reserve the right to remove a student from class for any act that endangers safety, including deliberate disregard of instructions from the Instructor or Range Safety Officer.  Students removed for safety issues will not receive a refund or credit for the class.

Ammunition - Where noted in the course descriptions, students are expected to provide their own ammunition in adequate quantiites to complete the range portion of the class.  Only factory ammuntion may be used.  Hand-loaded and/or steel core(can be checked with a magnet) ammunition is prohibited and ammunition may be checked by the instructor before the student is allowed to shoot.

Due to shortages of certain types of ammunition, students are advised to start sourcing ammunition well in advance of the class.  Not having ammunition is not a valid reason for cancelling your class attendance.  If you cannot find ammunition, please contact the instructor as soon as possible to make other arrangements.

AMMUNITION IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM - It doesn't matter if it is in your pocket, in your firearm, in your magazine, or in your gun case - AMMUNITION IS NOT PERMITTED in the classroom, period.  If you conceal carry a loaded firearm to the class facility, you must unload and secure the firearm (including magazines) before entering the classroom.  Please check your firearm to ensure it is unloaded before bringing it to class or the range, and ensure that it is enclosed in a case or gun rug.

Firearms - The Blackstone Training Group does not sell or rent firearms - Unless stated otherwise in the course description, students are expected to provide their own firearm in safe working condition for any class that includes live fire (concealed carry classes are typically classroom only).  Some of the shooting facilities we use rent firearms, others do not.  Unless noted otherwise in the course description, rimfire (.22LR for example) pistols are acceptable and preferred for first-time shooters.  Contact your instructor if you have any questions regarding the requirements of your scheduled class.

Students are advised to source a firearm well in advance of the class.  Not having a firearm (if required) is not a valid reason for cancelling your class attendance.  If you cannot find a firearm, please contact the instructor as soon as possible to make other arrangements.  Firearms must be unloaded at all times unless explicity told by the instructor to load at the firing line on the range.

Privacy - The confidentiality of our customers' personal information is important to us.  We do not share customer information with other companies.  We use a third party company to process all credit card payments and do not have access to your credit card information.  With the exception of the class roster sign-in sheet, we do not retain or store your registration information after your class is completed.
